WR. Jordan Shipley. player. 851. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. (2006-09). 1

Despite being one of the very best players on the 2009 national runner-up team, we may never fully give the appreciation wide receiver Jordan Shipley deserves. He was a consensus All-American as a senior in 2009, making First-Team All-Big 12 and took home the Paul Warfield Trophy. Yet, he wasn’t believed to be the best wide receiver in college football for some reason.

Shipley had 116 catches for 1,485 yards and 13 touchdowns as a senior. He ranks at the top over nearly all major receiving categories in Texas football history. All of his 2009 marks are the best in a single season for the Longhorns. His 273 yards vs. UCF in 2009 is the most in a single game. The same thing applies to his 15 catches vs. Oklahoma State in 2008.

In his Texas career, Shipley finished with 248 catches for 3,191 yards and 33 touchdowns. He had two seasons of over 1,000 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. Shipley ranks first all-time in career receptions and second all-time in yardage and receiving touchdowns behind Roy Williams. These are without question the two best receivers in Texas football history.

Shipley would be a third-round pick by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2010 NFL Draft. He spent three years in the NFL before washing out of the league in 2012 with the Jacksonville Jaguars. His NFL statistics include 79 catches for 858 yards and four touchdowns. Even though he had a forgettable NFL career, Shipley is a legend in Austin from his time catching balls for the Longhorns.
