While Georgia can stake its claim as Tight End U, it most certainly can stake its claim as RBU. If you want to run the football, come to the University of Georgia and it’s probably going to work out for you. Though the Dawgs usually end up with whatever five-star they want at the position, they may want to hunker down and try to steal Donovan Edwards out of Michigan in this cycle.

The West Bloomfield, Michigan native is 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds. Edwards is a four-star recruit in the 247Sports Composite. He is the No. 2 player from Michigan, the No. 3 running back in the country and the No. 36 player in his recruiting class. Keep in mind there are only 31 players with five-star ratings in this cycle. Edwards is just on the outside looking with his No. 36 overall rating.

Edward has 43 offers but is looking pretty hard at four schools: Georgia, the Michigan Wolverines, the Michigan State Spartans and the Oklahoma Sooners. With running backs coach Dell McGee as his primary recruiter, how are you going to say no to a guy who’s landed UGA six five-stars before? McGree was the primary recruiter for D’Andre Swift and Zamir White. He’s watching Edwards.

It really comes down to what Edwards prioritizes the most: Does he want to stay in Michigan and play for the Wolverines or Spartans? Or does he want to play in the College Football Playoff at a place like Georgia or Oklahoma? Given Georgia’s better track record very recently in the ground game, the Dawgs appear to have a leg up on the Sooners if Edwards doesn’t want to stay home.
