Heavyweight rankings: A deeper look at the top five
1. Tyson Fury
Is there any debate? He has, by far, the two best wins of anyone in the division.
He dominated Wladimir Klitschko, who was the king of the division and in the midst of one of the most dominant title reigns in history.
On top of ending the Klitschko era, Fury came back from depression, drug addiction and obesity and returned to the top of the division. He fought knockout king Deontay Wilder, and was able to get up off the canvas in the 12th and final round. Not only did he survive he did did enough to win in the eyes of most observers.
In the rematch with Wilder, Fury absolutely dominated. He won every second of the fight, and was able to stop Wilder in the seventh round.
He has a rare combination of skill and size. He had around 50 pounds on Wilder in the rematch, and was the more skilled fighter. His fluidity is comparable to Ali, and his ability to evade punches is special to see from someone his size.
It is going to take a truly special fighter to defeat Fury, as long as he is fully committed to the sport.
Not much can be said about the lineal champion, other than he is a treat to watch, and one of the most entertaining fighters outside of the ring.
