1. Miami sack machine: Are Rousseau, Roche CFB’s best pass-rushing duo?

If you like watching pass rushers, you’re going to want to tune into Miami football this season. As mentioned previously, Diaz landed former Temple defensive end Quincy Roche via transfer in the 2020 offseason and he’s going to have an immediate and huge impact on this team. At Temple last season, Roche had 13 sacks and 19 tackles for loss, showing just what he can do with getting into the backfield.

What’s crazy, though, is that the veteran end might not be the best player at the position on his team. That’s thanks to Gregory Rousseau, who moved to defensive end last season and hit the ground running — a phrase that may actually be selling the young man short based on what he was able to accomplish.

As a redshirt freshman (!!!), Rousseau had more sacks than any player in the country not named Chase Young. The 6-foot-6, 251-pounder racked up 15.5 quarterback traps last year to go with 19.5 tackles for loss. Now with a full year of experience, there’s the chance that he could be even better and end up being a top-five pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

The combination of Rousseau and Roche may well give Miami the best pass-rushing combo in college football this season. Given the aforementioned questions behind them, that could be huge. But what can be said with certainty is that opposing offenses are going to have a rough time trying to keep this pair of stars out of the backfield with any kind of consistency.
