NFL Power Rankings: Top 10 wide receivers in today’s game
In his 30s and on a team that has struggled to replicate their 2016 zenith since the departure of Kyle Shanahan, Jones has continued to dominate for the Atlanta Falcons.
Though he regressed somewhat from a 2018 season that saw amass nearly 1,700 yards, Jones’ 2019 was still a spectacular one, his efforts helping the Falcons surge down the stretch after a dismal start.
Indeed, Jones finished 2019 with 99 catches for 1,394 yards and six touchdowns, again proving himself as a receiver who can be almost unguardable when at his scintillating best. He produced six games of over 100 yards or more, with his effort in a shock win over the San Francisco 49ers – 13 catches, 134 yards and two touchdowns – showcasing his ability to be a matchup nightmare for even the most vaunted of defenses.
Jones is truly the complete package at the position. The former second overall pick possesses size, speed, route-running craft and is near-impossible for defenders to deal with at the catch point.
There is no sign of that changing despite his age and Jones should continue to perform at an All-Pro level in an offense that may rely on him even more if tight end Hayden Hurst cannot fill the void left by Austin Hooper’s departure.
