1. 51. Pick Analysis. WR. Los Angeles Rams. Van Jefferson. Scouting Report. player

Every year, there are a handful of rookies who are fortunate enough to land with the perfect team. Jefferson going to the Rams certainly fits that description. He’s just the sort of crisp route runner that Sean McVay loves to employ.

Jefferson fell to Los Angeles in Round 2 because of his lack of electric athleticism. He’s not your typical Florida wideout. He won’t wow you with his 40-yard dash time or his vertical leap.

Instead, he’s the sort of polished wideout who can punish opposing defensive backs with his precise routes. McVay will love Jefferson’s ability to run every route in his playbook regardless of where he lines up. Jefferson is capable of helping the Rams from the slot or the outside as a rookie.

It’s possible the Jefferson can grow into Jared Goff’s most reliable target sometime during his rookie campaign. If it happens, the former Gator could easily lead his rookie class in catches and yards during the 2020 season. That would represent excellent production from a player who was passed on by almost every team in the NFL before the Rams ended his slide.
