Kansas basketball: Updated starting lineup predictions for the Jayhawks
Projected Kansas basketball lineup: Ochai Agbaji, SF
Another returning starter for the Jayhawks is Ochai Agbaji, who will be a fixture on the wing. Kansas saw Agbaji make a solid impact as a sophomore, averaging 10 points per game and 4.2 rebounds a night.
In terms of pure point production, Agbaji is the highest scorer from last season’s team that will be back for another year. Agbaji was third on the Jayhawks in scoring, trailing only Dotson and Azubuike.
That should be of some comfort for Self, who can comfortably rely on Agbaji to make his usual contributions as a secondary option. The Jayhawks also love Agbaji’s ability to use his frame to wreak havoc on the defensive end.
The one concern with Agabaji is his inconsistent play, something the Jayhawks will want to see improve in 2020. Agbaji had the ability to take over games at his best but completely disappear on his worst nights.
Simply put, Self needs to find a way to help Agbaji become a more consistent presence when he is on the floor. As one of the few returning players to get big minutes a year ago, Agbaji will be counted on to steady his game as a junior.
