Zamir White has a chance to be top dog in the Georgia backfield.

Replacing D’Andre Swift, who was selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions, is no easy task. But if there’s anything the most recent RBU has shown us of late, it’s that there’s always another former top-rated prospect waiting in the wings. Heck, Swift was once called upon to replace Sony Michel AND Nick Chubb.

This is where Zamir White comes in. White, a former No. 1 overall RB in his recruiting class, has overcome a torn ACL, which occurred in practice, among other injury concerns. He’ll battle with James Cook, brother of Dalvin, for reps, but he’s the favorite to land the starting position.

Zamir White dropped a hype video that will get every Georgia fan ready for the next edition of RBU.

White has the speed advantage on Cook, and it makes a lot of sense for Kirby Smart and Todd Monken to employ a dual-back approach, rather than giving either one starter’s reps. The North Carolina native in White, though, has far more hype surrounding his suddenly secure health status, and he released a hype video to plant his flag as next.

Zeus is loose. Smart’s willingness to employ White in the Sugar Bowl last season against Baylor, in which he ran for 92 yards and a touchdown, shows he can be trusted in a big moment. Cook, meanwhile, is more of a change of pace back, and is a more talented receiver than White at this juncture.

In 13 games, White averaged 5.2 yards-per-carry in limited action in 13 games. Sitting behind a talent like Swift, White’s been able to improve his backfield vision by watching the best. Now asked to step in for one of the most talented backs in school history, White is ready for his turn behind Jamie Newman in the Georgia offense.
