Does FedEx deliver on the 4th of July?

Are you waiting on a package to be delivered? Maybe you have sent away for something festive, hoping to have it on the 4th of July. Maybe you think you’re going to be getting that long-awaited box of special homemade cookies from your mom and you’re too anxious to wait. Maybe you’re hoping your new piece of memorabilia will finally arrive. Well, if you’re waiting for anything to still arrive on the 4th of July, keep waiting, as FedEx does not deliver on the holiday.

The 4th of July is one of the holidays that FedEx observes, along with the other obvious ones like Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter Sunday. So you’re going to be waiting on those bedazzled earings to finally arrive that you ordered from that person on Etsy. So you’re probably thinking that those will arrive on Sunday then, as the 4th of July falls on a Saturday, right?

As the great Lee Corso always says; not so fast my friends. FedEx often gives their employees off not just the holiday, but the Sunday following the holiday as well. That means that despite delivering packages on Sundays throughout the year, any Sunday following a major holiday, like the 4th of July, won’t be shipped on July 5.

That is unless you’re shipping something via FedEx’s Custom Critical service. The service is awfully pricey and unless you’re shipping emergency packages or time-sensitive items, it’s best not to fork over the extra money and just be patient until the July 6, where you can expect to receive all of your packages, as usual, come Monday.

If you’re thinking it’s just FedEx, it’s not. The postal service also won’t be shipping or taking packages to send on the 4th of July as well. So take a load off, pour a cool drink, settle in and enjoy your holiday weekend.
