Patrick Mahomes monster extension got the attention of the king of one-year contracts, Josh McCown.

Josh McCown was a traveling salesman disguised as NFL quarterback, as the jouneyman played for nine teams throughout his 17-year career. McCown retired from the NFL following the 2019 season and a short stint with the Philadelphia Eagles.

After watching Patrick Mahomes make up his career earnings in one full swoop (and then some), McCown took to Twitter to share his utter disbelief. The life of a career backup quarterback is rarely a rewarding one, but getting paid to rarely step in and hold a clipboard isn’t a bad deal, either.

Josh McCown’s reaction to Patrick Mahomes mega-deal is spot-on.

Mahomes signed the richest deal in NFL history, but playing for just one team in his career doesn’t fully appreciate his market value, or at least that’s what McCown would like us to think.

Hmm…when one option pays over $430 million, it’s the better choice. Travel isn’t that nice.

Um, sure? That’s one way to look at things. For what it’s worth, McCown did step in admirably for Carson Wentz at the end of his career, so much so the Eagles actually wanted him back prior to his retirement.

McCown doesn’t strike us as a Tinder guy, but what do we know? Mahomes is just one Kermit the Frog profile away from exploring the Kansas City single’s circuit, though Brittany Matthews might not be happy about that reality.

Who needs frequent flyer miles when you’ve got an estimated income of $450 million coming your way over the next decade-plus?

Could McCown find his future career path from a Twitter joke? A journeyman letting social media lead him on his next adventure? It only sounds natural. He’s just one or two gigs away from finally finding his dream job.
