The New York Mets need to be aggressive at the deadline to stay afloat

In traditional New York Mets fashion, everything that could have gone wrong last year did go wrong. Hyped offseason acquisitions flopped, the offense was again stagnant outside of Pete Alonso, and the bullpen was a chaotic mess.

Even after such a disappointing season in 2019 and Carlos Beltran resigning as manager in disgrace without managing a single game, the Mets have an opportunity to make some noise in the NL East due to the shortened 60-game season.

While the Mets aren’t in a position to be super aggressive and swing for the fences given the lack of elite prospects they have in their system that can reach the major leagues fairly quickly, they can still make minor tweaks here and there that help this team get to the promised land and trading for these three veterans could help the Mets regain their footing in the NL East.
