The Chiefs locked in Patrick Mahomes and now more Super Bowls are in their sights.

Patrick Mahomes isn’t going anywhere and neither are the Kansas City Chiefs.

That was already the case before Mahomes signed his new deal, but now that he’s tied to Kansas City and the reigning Super Bowl champs through 2013, it’s evident the Chiefs just put themselves as Super Bowl contenders for the next decade.

Much like the Patriots were always Super Bowl favorites because of Tom Brady, the Colts and Broncos were contenders because of Peyton Manning, and the Packers were always a threat because of Aaron Rodgers, the Chiefs now become a dangerous season on a yearly basis because of Mahomes.

In just two full seasons at the helm, Mahomes has led his team to two AFC Championship games and one Super Bowl. The Chiefs won that Super Bowl in comeback fashion and Mahomes played a huge hand in why the organization won their first championship in five decades.

The question now is: How many Super Bowls will the Chiefs win with Mahomes in town for the next ten years?

It’s obviously hard to say, but it’d be crazy for them not to win AT LEAST one more, if not two. Brett Veach did a great job bringing in talent while Mahomes was still on his rookie deal and that helped the team win it all last year.

Having Tyrann Mathieu and Frank Clark on defense joining the already powerful Chris Jones helped put them over the edge. Having Sammy Watkins to pair with Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce made things interesting offensively and was yet another reason this team was able to hoist the Lombardi Trophy.

The Chiefs didn’t lose any offensive talent this offseason, putting them in prime position to repeat in 2020. They also lost minimal talent defensively and that’s why this team is still in a perfect spot to run the table in the next few years.

It could be tricky signing some key free agents, but with the financial part of the deal announced yet, maybe it’s not for as much as some will think. Mahomes isn’t stupid – He’s seen what Brady could do in New England by not taking as much money as possible and might opt to go that same route. If the Chiefs gave him more years guaranteed than money, it’s very possible for Kansas City to win three or four more titles over the next decade.

Low bar, the Chiefs can win one or two titles. High bar, three to five titles is entirely possible for the Mahomes-led Chiefs.

Kansas City has had some rough history when it comes to their quarterbacks, but they finally got it right with Patrick Mahomes. He’s now a Kansas City Chief for the next 10 years.
