The Minnesota Twins need to keep adding studs to improve
Rocco Baldelli and the Minnesota Twins built an AL Central champion out of a bunch of power-hitting sluggers and solid, if uninspiring, starting pitching. The “Bomba Squad”, which featured players like Nelson Cruz, Mitch Garver, and Eddie Rosario launching 450-foot home runs every game, was certainly fun to watch, but they hit a Yankee-sized roadblock in the postseason once again.
The only way for the Twins to stay atop the AL Central without sacrificing much in the way of elite prospects is to make a few solid trade acquisitions at the deadline that help bolster a ragtag group of relief pitchers, give the Bomba Squad some much-needed protection in the lineup, and secure a solid No. 2 starter that Minnesota can trust to get big outs once the calendar flips to October.
