Andy Reid not thinking of retiring anytime soon after locking up Patrick Mahomes
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid doesn’t have retirement on his mind at all.
On Monday, shockwaves were sent through the NFL as Chiefs’ star quarterback Patrick Mahomes signed an absolutely massive 10-year extension with Kansas City. Mahomes’ deal is worth around $450 million with incentives taking it all the way up to $503 million, making it the first time an NFL player has had the most lucrative deal in sports.

Chiefs’ head coach Andy Reid, who has been at the helm since 2013, was interviewed about Mahomes being secured as the franchise quarterback for the foreseeable future, and Reid expressed his love for coaching Mahomes and said that he is in no way thinking about retirement.
Reid is currently 62 years old and has been an NFL head coach since 1999 when he started out with the Philadelphia Eagles. And the question of his retirement was brought up in Feb. after winning his first Super Bowl title as a head coach, and he also expressed then that he has no intention to call it quits.

Reid is currently 62.
Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes will continue to be a dynamic duo in Kansas City for a long time.
No one can criticize Andy Reid for wanting to continue his career now that he has one of the best quarterbacks in football under center for the next 10 years. On top of being gifted with an amazing quarterback, Reid should realize his talent as a top-level offensive play-caller who is able to complement Mahomes’ skill set, which should make him want to continue coaching since few other coaches can mesh with Mahomes as Reid does.
Also, while Reid has been coaching in the NFL for a long time, his age is not an issue compared to other NFL coaches. Both Pete Carroll and Bill Belichick currently clock in at 68 years old, and Bruce Arians are not far behind at 67.
Reid is a veteran NFL coach, but that does not mean he is looking at retirement, and with a talented squad led by an MVP quarterback, it is easy to see why he wants to stick around for a while.
