Kyrie Irving is producing a TV special on the death of Breonna Taylor.

The death of Breonna Taylor rocked not only the country as a whole, but the callousness of the whole tragedy really reverberated within the walls of the NBA. Brooklyn Nets superstar Kyrie Irving isn’t going to just sit on the sidelines and allow Taylor’s name and story to be forgotten.

Irving, in conjunction with rapper Common, created “#SAYHERNAME: Breonna Taylor”, a documentary that will retell the grizzly incident that claimed Taylor’s life. Yahoo Sports reports the documentary will recommend that viewers sign of a petition that seeks justice for Taylor while imploring the officers implicated in the Taylor shooting to be charged with murder.

Irving has been very vocal as it pertains to his social justice views.

Taylor was shot eight times in Lousiville after plainclothes officers serving a narcotics warrant entered her apartment without knocking. No drugs were found. While the city has voted to ban no-knock search warrants and officer Brett Hankison was fired, protesters and activists have questioned if the officers who murdered Taylor have or will be held truly accountable.

Irving, who will miss the remainder of his debut season for the Nets in which he averaged 27.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game, has opposed the NBA’s plan to restart the season in Orlando, in part because the activist in him has some reservations. Irving urged players not to go to Florida, as he fears that playing games might actually serve as a distraction and detract from all the activism players have been performing over the last few months.
