Let’s take a look at the latest projected starting five for North Carolina.

While most programs were devastated that the NCAA Tournament was canceled due to the coronavirus North Carolina was an exception. An absolutely dreadful season assured that the Tar Heels were going home after their elimination from the ACC Tournament.

Head coach Roy Williams will look to improve off what he admits is one of his worst coaching jobs of all time. A new starting five will help, so let’s take a look at the latest projected lineup for North Carolina entering the season.

Projected North Carolina basketball starting lineup: Caleb Love, PG

The most gifted player on last year’s Tar Heels’ roster was Cole Anthony, the son of former NBA player Greg Anthony. A knee injury cost Anthony a significant portion of the season and North Carolina spiraled out of control after he got hurt.

Anthony did go pro after the season but the Tar Heels figure to be in good hands with Love running the point. A five-star recruit out of St. Louis, MO, Love should adapt quickly to the college game thanks to his innate ability to put the ball in the basket.

Love is a gifted athlete but does need to work a little bit on becoming more of a natural playmaker and decision-maker. A year of tutelage under Williams, who has sent numerous point guards to the NBA, should make Love a very good player.
