Ezekiel Elliott helped feed more than 400,000 families in Texas this summer

The Dallas Cowboys who says “feed me” on the field is helping feed others off of it.

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is famous for his signature “feed me” celebration after rushing for first downs. But that’s not as important as the proverbial touchdown that the NFL star scored off the field.

Elliott teamed up with clothing company, CentreTX, back in April to help sell exclusive apparel, with proceeds being fully donated to North Texas Food Bank. On Wednesday, the Cowboys running back revealed that the total donation has reached $85,000, which will help feed 400,000 families in Texas this summer during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

"“I am grateful to give back to the city that’s given me so much,” said Elliott on his Instagram post on Wednesday. “I am thankful for @centretx and YOU my fans for raising enough money to help feed over 400,000 families in North Texas this summer. I hope that this money helps provide much needed relief for those that are currently challenged. I’m looking forward to teaming up with @centretx and @northtexasfoodbank in the future to keep providing meals for those in need in our communities.”"

Elliott providing relief to one of the hardest hits states in the United States

In recent weeks, the state of Texas has been slammed by a surge of new COVID-19 cases. As of July 7, Texas tallied 10,028 positive contractions of the coronavirus, nearly double than the case total the day prior (5,318).

Nearly two weeks ago, it was revealed that Elliott tested positive for COVID-19. On a Twitch stream this past week, Dallas’ premier rusher revealed that he experienced shortness of breath and a cough, but stressed that he’s feeling better.

During these turbulent times around the globe, it’s great to see a top-tier athlete like Elliott help out a worthy cause.
