Mecole Hardman is really, really fast.

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman is on track to becoming one of the game’s greatest deep threats considering how the Chiefs are set up for a decade of dominance under Patrick Mahomes, and the second-year stud is working to ensure he is more than just a complementary role player on Chiefs teams of the future.

Hardman’s already insane speed might have actually improved over the course of the offseason, as a workout video shows that former Georgia Bulldog topping 23 miles per hour on a treadmill like it’s nothing.

Mecole Hardman could be a breakout star in 2020.

Hardman was a late riser up draft boards, as his speed and route-running skill overshadowed a career at Georgia in which the confines of the offense prevented him from putting up prolific numbers. He drafted in the second round, No. 56 overall, in the 2019 NFL Draft, was viewed by many as a Tyreek Hill replacement given the latter’s turbulent 2019 offseason. Luckily for Kansas City, Andy Reid was able to deploy both speedsters at the same time, and the results were electrifying.

Hardman, who totaled 538 receiving yards on 20.7 yards per reception, was tied for the league lead in touchdown receptions that were 25 yards or longer with Kenny Golladay and Darius Slayton, per PFF. Five of his six touchdown receptions were of that variety. Already a Pro Bowler due to his skills as a return man, Hardman should continue to improve in his sophomore season now that defenses are fully aware of how effective he is going deep down the field.

Teams who doubled Hill or Travis Kelce quickly found out that even veteran NFL defensive backs can struggle against this explosive young dynamo, usually, after that defensive back was left burnt to a crisp after a Hardman go route. Watch out for Hardman to emerge as one of the best young receivers in all of football during the 2020 season.
