CB. Monterey Trail High School (Elk Grove, CA). 4. Pick Analysis. Prophet Brown. player. 815. Scouting Report

Will Tristan Leigh seems like he’s going to the Clemson Tigers more than anything, the Sooners have a better shot of landing another great player from the other side of the country in cornerback Prophet Brown. The Monterey Trail High School standout is 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds, hailing from Elk Grove, California. He has 16 offers, including Oklahoma, presumed to be his leader.

Brown is the No. 15 cornerback in the country, the No. 21 player from California and the No. 205 overall player in the 247Sports Composite for 2021. Outside of Oklahoma, Brown is considering these five other Power 5 programs: The Michigan Wolverines, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the Oregon Ducks and the USC Trojans. So is he coming to OU or not?

Brown’s primary recruiter is outside linebackers coach Jamar Cain. He has landed five four-stars in the last two cycles combined with the Sooners last year and the Arizona State Sun Devils the year prior. Though none of his commitments are household names yet, they’re still only underclassmen. Having a guy who’s familiar with the West Coast area definitely helps.

From the looks of it, the biggest challengers for Brown’s commitment have to be the West Coast blue-bloods in Oregon and USC. If it comes down to any team in Big Ten or Big 12 country, Oklahoma’s got this in the bag. Unless he finds a liking to Oregon or USC, Oklahoma has to feel pretty good about its chances to get a four-star cornerback out of California in this class.
