Patrick Mahomes gets cheeky at the American Century Championship
Patrick Mahomes is letting loose on the course at the American Century Championship.
In a field of 71 celebrities and professional athletes, Patrick Mahomes is letting loose and having fun. While he may be a professional football player, that’s not stopping Mahomes from showing off his skills with a golf club at the American Century Championship.
Of course, those skills aren’t so great (he even tweeted about it after Friday’s round), but when it comes down to it, the American Century Championship is as much about having fun as it is playing golf for charity. And it’s clear that Patrick Mahomes is having plenty of fun.
On Friday he may have fumbled a golf ball or two, but he was also pumped after sinking a putt on the par 3 17th hole. And on Saturday, that sense of fun continued as he got cheeky with his Kansas City Chiefs teammate Travis Kelce.
Patrick Mahomes gets cheeky with Travis Kelce
So exactly how did Mahomes get cheeky? By throwing a giant pinecone at an unsuspecting Kelce. While Travis Kelce was paying attention to the action in front of him, Patrick Mahomes snuck up behind him and lobbed a pinecone at his tight end (all puns intended).
It’s all in good fun of course, but Mahomes didn’t exactly stick around to see how his teammate reacted (besides jumping in surprise and turning around to see exactly what just happened). Instead, the Quarterback took off running, laughing the entire time.
As with any celebrity golf tournament, it’s as much a competition as it is a chance to have fun with fellow athletes. And considering this is the first time some of these athletes have been able to compete in a while, this is definitely an opportunity for everyone to stretch their wings and have some fun.
Now we just have to wait to see if Kelce is going to make his Quarterback pay for that pinecone. If he does, it should definitely be interesting to see what he does and if he makes it a sneak attack like how Mahomes ran up on him.
