The pandemic has been tough on all of us, even LeBron James

Three months without basketball isn’t natural to men and women who are literally paid to play the game, which is why NBA and WNBA players have had to get creative with their spare time. While many top athletes, including the likes of Jaylen Brown and Malcolm Brogdon, took to the streets to protest racial inequality, others did so from afar via social media and worked on their craft.

At 35 years old, LeBron knows he only has so much time left at the peak of his game. If he truly wants to catch Jordan’s ghost, as he’s openly admitted to doing at this stage of his career, he needs to take advantage this season. The Lakers have the best record in the Western Conference.

Lakers teammate Quinn Cook revealed the message LeBron James sent the team during the NBA hiatus.

Per Cook, James wanted his team to stay focused with a singular goal in mind. But on a personal level, LeBron missed balling out with his friends, and who could blame him?

“‘Bron sent a text after 2 weeks or so when we all hadn’t been together: ‘Miss you guys.’ Just something uplifting like, ‘Can’t wait to get back on the floor with you guys, finish what we started,'” Cook said on Saturday.

That’s the kind of leadership that makes LBJ one of the best teammates of all-time. With a fourth ring, he’d cement his argument as the second-best player of all-time, if he hasn’t done so already. James is becoming increasingly aware of his status on the Mount Rushmore of basketball, and he hopes to do everything in his power to at least make pundits embrace debate when it comes to he and Jordan.

Assuming play does resume come late July, James and his Lakers will take aim at their main competition out West, which includes the Clippers, Nuggets, Jazz, Thunder and Rockets.
