Detroit Lions. Matthew Stafford. 6. Pick Analysis. QB. player. 50. Scouting Report

Roethlisberger wasn’t the only quarterback who suffered a big injury in 2019. The minute the Lions lost Stafford their season went into the tank. Officials in Detroit hope his return can catapult them back into playoff contention.

The 32-year-old’s chances of leading the league in passing are buoyed by his underrated receiving corps. Kenny Golladay might be the most underrated wideout in the entire league. Marvin Jones gives Stafford a very reliable No. 2 target. T.J. Hockenson and Jessie James give the Lions a really interesting pair of targets at tight end.

The fact that the Lions will probably be trailing in a lot of games also gives Stafford more chances to throw the football. He may never throw it 727 times as he did back in 2012, but he could easily get up 600 attempts due to Detriot being involved in a lot of shootouts. That would give Stafford a strong chance to clear the 5,000 yards passing mark.

Stafford isn’t one of the first quarterbacks fans think of when they’re coming up with a list of elite players, but when healthy, he always puts up really good numbers. He’ll need to have a big season if Matt Patricia wants to keep his job.
