Harrison Barnes is the latest NBA player to announce he has tested positive for COVID-19.

Most of the players who will be participating in the NBA’s planned restart have already arrived in the bubble at Walt Disney World. But for those players who have not yet arrived, we’re continuing to receive a rolling set of announcements that they’ve tested positive for COVID-19.

Today, Kings’ forward Harrison Barnes shared on Twitter that he was one of those positive tests.

The detail that Barnes’ is “mostly asymptomatic” is a little disturbing and the primary concern here is obviously his health and well-being.

What is going on with the Kings?

The Kings have been hit fairly hard, with positive test results already reported for Buddy Hield, Jabari Parker and Alex Len. The team is also dealing with issues in Orlando, with the news that Richaun Holmes was back in quarantine after unknowingly violating the campus boundary to pick up a food delivery. This report came out just after news that Rockets’ wing Bruno Caboclo will begin quarantine again after leaving his room within the initial 48-hour quarantine window upon arriving in the bubble.

Yesterday, Russell Westbrook, who has also not yet arrived in Orlando, announced that he had tested positive. Teams can’t announce a player’s status without their consent because of HIPAA laws but basic deductive reasoning, supported by these announcements by Barnes and Westbrook, could lead you to believe that anyone who isn’t in Orlando and hasn’t formally announced withdrawing from the season restart may have tested positive. At the time of this writing, that includes James Harden, Michael Porter Jr., Torrey Craig and Gary Harris.

Still, the good news is that to this point the bubble appears to be working. There have been no positive test results from spread within the bubble. Even the two positive results that were reported in Orlando came from spread before the players traveled and were caught in the initial 48-hour quarantine window.
