14. NFL Power Rankings: New England Patriots

This may be the most fascinating season in the Bill Belichick era since it will be the first real test of who had more importance in the Patriots’ dynasty. Belichick did get New England to go 11-5 without Brady in 2008, but that team was a far stronger group than the one he brings to camp this season.

Jarrett Stidham and Newton are set to compete for the quarterback job on a team that still should be in contention thanks to its strong defense. It wouldn’t be shocking to see the Patriots in the AFC playoff hunt due to the lack of depth in the conference but Belichick’s failure to adequately upgrade the skill position talent significantly caps New England’s upside.

13. NFL Power Rankings: Indianapolis Colts

If you’re looking for a sleeper this season the Colts are a fantastic choice. Indianapolis got off to a good start in the post-Andrew Luck era before injuries and regression from Jacoby Brissett saw them tumble down the stretch.

Rivers is now in town to stabilize the quarterback position and should bounce back behind one of the NFL’s offensive lines. The trade for DeForest Buckner adds significant depth to the defensive line while another solid draft haul added more weapons on offense, setting the stage for a potential division winner in the AFC South.
