Ron Rivera joined the Washington NFL franchise at the wrong time.

Earlier this week, the Washington NFL franchise announced that they were parting with their controversial nickname. As it turns out, that was the least important update of the week. On Thursday, the Washington Post dropped a bombshell report of 15 female employees coming forward to discuss the organization-wide sexual harassment over the past 13 years.

Team owner Dan Snyder released a statement regarding the allegations on Friday, which was met with mixed results. Shortly after the public announcement, Scott Fowler of the Charlotte Observer sent a text message to new head coach Ron Rivera, asking him if he regrets taking the job with this controversy coming to light.

Rivera immediately shut down the notion and said he has “no regrets.”

“No regrets,” Rivera texted to Fowler. “I look forward to the challenge of improving a 3-13 team. I want to build a sustainable winning culture, in every facet.”

Rivera is up to the challenge of changing Washington’s culture

After the disturbing allegations were revealed on Thursday evening, Rivera spoke with the media to let everyone know that he won’t allow what happened from 2006-19 to occur with him in the facility, especially with his daughter working for the organization.

Rivera chose Washington for a reason. He’s a defensive-minded coach, and Washington boasts a young, promising squad that includes Johnathan Allen and Da’Ron Payne. Oh, and the team had the best chance to select Ohio State stud edge rusher Chase Young, which they ultimately did this past April during the NFL Draft.

He knows that the talent on the roster is sufficient enough to win games and potentially contend for a Super Bowl down the road.

If you thought Rivera would jump ship, you thought wrong. Rivera sees that he can be the person to lead the organization in the right direction. If Rivera can do that, he might’ve solidified his spot as a Hall of Fame NFL head coach.
