Stefon Diggs could prove to be the ultimate addition for Bills

Stefon Diggs could be just what the Buffalo Bills were missing last season
The Buffalo Bills were close to reaching the AFC Divisional Round this past season, but suffered an epic collapse to the Houston Texans in overtime. After this game and seeing the New England Patriots lose longtime quarterback Tom Brady this offseason, the Bills had the opening they needed to elevate themselves as the favorites to win the AFC East in 2020.
That move came at the start of the NFL league year, as they traded a bevy of draft capital to the Minnesota Vikings to secure the services of wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who could prove to be the prime addition for the Bills.
The Bills have long been without a certified top receiver
When looking at the history of the Buffalo franchise, they haven’t had a certified receiving weapon like a Diggs in quite some time. Seriously, besides Lee Evans (who ranks third all-time in Bills receiving), the Bills have had a relatively barren passing attack in recent years. That changes with Diggs coming to Orchard Park.
Diggs is coming off back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons with Kirk Cousins throwing him the ball in Minneapolis. In fact, Diggs has never posted a catch percentage less than 60% in his entire career, according to Pro Football Reference. That alone makes the former Viking an immediate upgrade on the Bills offense.
But there’s more. Now with opposing defenses having to give extra attention to Diggs, that will provide openings down the field for fellow receivers John Brown and Cole Beasley. That fact alone will make life easier for quarterback Josh Allen, but we must stress that he absolutely needs to be accurate with his passes for this to work. On paper, it definitely should.

The Bills were basically carried to the playoffs last season by their stout defense. As we saw in the postseason, Buffalo was exposed by their lack of explosiveness on the offensive side of the ball. Now that Diggs is on the team, there’s a greater chance of playoff success for the Bills in 2020.
