Eagles cut former standout Arizona QB Khalil Tate after position switch
The Eagles have moved on from Khalil Tate.
Khalil Tate enjoyed a successful career with the Arizona Wildcats. The quarterback threw for 57 touchdowns over the course of four years and rushed for another 18.
Yet he went undrafted in 2020 and was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles with the goal of moving him to wide receiver. Tate did not play any receiver in college and has now been cut by the Eagles after what appears to be a failed experiment.

The Eagles have seen enough from Khalil Tate
Tate was in a tough spot as soon as he signed with the Eagles. His best bet was to end up in a role similar to what Taysom Hill provides in New Orleans. However, the team also just drafted and signed Jalen Hurts. If anyone is going to get reps behind Carson Wentz in a Wildcat role, it will be Hurts.
It is also important to note that Tate was cut in what is a unique year for the NFL. He never had a chance to show off his abilities in a normal manner, and once everything gets back to normal, he should receive other opportunities from NFL teams.
Plenty of teams want to copy that Saints formula with Hill, and one key difference is Tate put up legitimate passing numbers in college. He threw for over 6,000 combined yards from 2017-19, with 2017 being the only year where he put up monster numbers on the ground.
Tate ran for 1,411 yards on 153 attempts in that 2017 season. His next highest total was 413 rushing yards in 2019. 2017 was when Tate put his name in the national spotlight, but he unfortunately began to see his prolific numbers decline once Kevin Sumlin showed up as head coach.

The Eagles clearly believed Tate could be a legitimate option at receiver and he should get another shot soon enough.
