4. Florida bold predictions: Gators defeat reigning national champion LSU

This one has a lot going on at once. First, the Florida Gators have to win every game before the LSU game. This includes a rivalry game with Kentucky and Tennessee. These games could be trap games, but we see Florida getting out of them unscathed. Then, they face the defending champion LSU Tigers on Oct. 10. Now, LSU has a lot to replace on their plate, including Texas and Ole Miss, but they could win all those games too.

Now, you have LSU ranked in the top four, and Florida ranked in the top five or six. After Florida beats LSU, and with a little luck in the Top 25, they will end up as the No. 2 team in the country. That means three others of Oregon, Ohio State, Alabama and Clemson have to lose. Or, they have to at least have much weaker schedules in the rankings’ eyes. I think that if Ohio State has a few less-than-convincing wins on their resumé, Florida could usurp them.

This isn’t going to be where Florida ends up, but for at least one week, Florida is a bell of the ball. For one week, every talking head show talks about how big of a contender the Gators are. There’s talk of an under-the-radar offense, a stellar defense, and a coach in Dan Mullen that’s becoming a household name across the country.
