How do the four teams in the always-interesting AFC South rank these days?

It’s a division that has been somewhat of a rollercoaster ride since 2002. That was the year that the National Football League went from six to eight divisions and the NFL added a 32nd team.

But the bottom line here is that in 18 seasons, the AFC South has basically been dominated by a pair of franchises: The Indianapolis Colts and the Houston Texans. The former has won nine division titles and made Super Bowl appearances in both 2006 and ’09. The latter has captured the top spot in the AFC South six times in the last nine years, including each of the past two seasons.

The Tennessee Titans’ last division title came in 2008, one of two times the club grabbed the top spot since ’02. Meanwhile, the Jacksonville Jaguars won the AFC South in 2017 on the way to the conference title game. It was the team’s first division crown since 1999 when a talented squad led by head coach Tom Coughlin finished with the best record in the NFL and won the old AFC Central.

So much for the history lesson. So how do these current franchises stack up at this moment with the 2020 NFL seasons less than two months away?
