Jamie Newman has finally been seen in a Georgia uniform.

The Georgia Bulldogs wasted no time in adding a new quarterback now that Jake Fromm is in the NFL with the Buffalo Bills.

Jamie Newman announced his intention to transfer to the program earlier this year and he stands out as the man to beat for the starting job. Newman threw for 2,868 yards and 26 touchdowns last year with Wake Forest and also ran for 574 yards and six touchdowns. A video recently dropped of him wearing his new uniform, and it should have Bulldogs fans hyped.

Jamie Newman is officially a Bulldog

Seeing Newman in his Georgia uniform makes it all real. He is not officially the starter, but remains the favorite for the job over Stetson Bennett and fellow transfer JT Daniels. Newman’s 2019 numbers, along with his experience, boost his case in his final year of eligibility.

The Bulldogs have been close to winning a national championship in recent years and have won their division three straight times. They just haven’t been able to get over the hump, and losing Justin Fields in favor of Fromm is a move that stands out.

Fromm received his fair share of hate but still managed to put up three seasons with over 2,600 passing yards. He also had at least 24 touchdowns in all three seasons. Yet he was not a threat to run, and Newman’s ability to do just that should have fans excited.

There is plenty of uncertainty surrounding the 2020 college football season. Not playing could mean Newman heads to the NFL Draft without suiting up in a Bulldogs uniform. But nothing is certain right now and getting excited about seeing him suited up is something to be happy about in these tough and weird times.
