MLB Playoffs: 4 teams that would benefit from a 16-team playoff
By Scott Rogust
The Chicago White Sox have been projected to be a dark horse team in the MLB in recent years, but they always fell short of expectations. But the 2020 version of the White Sox feels different.
Chicago’s youth movement is scary on paper, to say the least. You have Tim Anderson and Yoan Moncada in the infield, while Luis Robert, Eloy Jimenez and Nomar Mazara man the entire outfield. Oh, and they added some big bats in the form of catcher Yasmani Grandal and Edwin Encarnacion.
As for pitching, Lucas Giolito will be their certified ace who can truly breakout in 2020. Not to mention he’ll have veteran Dallas Keuchel following him in the pitching rotation.
With the Minnesota Twins heavily favored to win the AL Central, the White Sox had no room for error to try and clinch a spot in the original postseason. But now with more teams being allowed admittance to fall ball, the White Sox should be able to make their first postseason appearance since 2008.
