As if the Washington Football Team name wasn’t lackluster enough, look at their gear.

After a decades-long battle, Dan Snyder finally got rid of his team’s racially insensitive team name weeks ago. NFL fans have been debating what they should name the team ever since the announcement. The Red Tails, Red Hawks, and Red Wolves all gained steam on social media and were seemingly the favorites.

Leave it to Snyder to completely bungle the decision. An official new name won’t be revealed until 2021 and will instead tentatively name his squad the “Washington Football Team.” As if the moniker wasn’t generic enough, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Fanatics.com and NFL Shop will be releasing new apparel in the coming days. Upon looking at the sneak peek, it’s probably the blandest merchandise we’ve ever seen.

Seriously, who’s buying that? The answer: no one!

Another fail by Snyder and Co.

Snyder was vehemently against changing his team name for years. But once major sponsors and minority owners threatened to back out, Snyder finally caved in albeit with the threat of losing money.

While the merchandise looks like the kind of stuff you can buy on a boardwalk or a mall kiosk, the uniforms are about the only positive of this rebrand. The former logo has been scrubbed off the helmet and will be replaced with the player’s number a la the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Washington will now be known as the "Washington Football Team" in 2020. light. Related Story

Even though all of the gear has yet to be officially unveiled by Fanatics, don’t expect anything special. Just burgundy-colored apparel with “Washington Football Team” written out in yellow. Sorry to play spoiler for you all, but we’re just preparing you for the disappointment.
