Jamal Adams wanted to join the Dallas Cowboys, but now he’s playing for another Super Bowl contender in the NFC.

After losing Byron Jones in free agency to the rebuilding Miami Dolphins, the Dallas Cowboys could have used a new superstar in their secondary. There were plenty of fans who wanted the team to make a play for Jamal Adams, but the superstar safety will be playing for the Seattle Seahawks instead.

The Cowboys seemed like a perfect fit for Adams, given their desire for star power and Adams’ status as a hometown star. But according to a report from CowboysSI.com’s Mike Fisher, Dallas didn’t even submit the New York Jets a “recent bid” for Adams, even though it was obvious he wanted out following a revealing interview with the New York Daily News’ Manish Mehta.

Since Dallas won’t benefit from Adams’ services in 2020, they will continue to roll with a safety duo of Xavier Woods and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. But to be quite honest, that’s a might fine safety tandom. Clinton-Dix is a high-quality starter when he’s in the mood, and Woods has the tools to become a long-time starter at the position.

Therefore, perhaps not splurging on two first-round picks for one superstar player at the position was a prudent move by the Cowboys, as awesome as it would have been for the fans to see Adams in the iconic blue star helmet.

And if Dallas wants a superstar player, there’s always Jadeveon Clowney waiting in free agency. Though they may have some competition from the New Orleans Saints, if wide receiver Michael Thomas has any say in Mickey Loomis’ decisions.

The Cowboys should like their chances of going far in the NFC playoffs with Dak Prescott at quarterback and some nice pieces around him, but the Seattle Seahawks’ new star power in the secondary after acquiring Adams could be the difference if these two teams go head-to-head.
