A tipster levied some serious allegations against the New York Yankees

In the midst of a shortened season in a pandemic, the Yankees could be facing similar allegations to that of the Houston Astros from the 2017 postseason. Per an anonymous tip, the Yankees had an ‘eye in the sky’, if you will, in the stands to steal signs.

Take with that video what you will, but should any of said allegations against the Yankees prove to be true, it would expose an astounding level of hypocrisy in the Bronx. New York had been one of the more outspoken ball-clubs against the illegal actions committed by the Astros in their 2017 World Series-winning season.

Any claims against the Yankees must also be taken with a grain of salt

Of course, this is just one Twitter user, and their word should be taken as such. For one, the camera is pretty clearly exposed, meaning it’s hard to believe no outfielder would notice such a device. Second, the 2018 AL Postseason did not go well for the Yankees, as they lost in the ALDS to the Red Sox.

This isn’t the first time the Yankees have faced such accusations, with Rob Manfred allegedly sending the team a letter in 2017 addressing some minor sign-stealing issues with an Apple watch. The Red Sox also faced similar transgressions and even committed further acts in their 2018 World Series-winning campaign.

In the end, such a video belongs with the conspiracy theorists until it’s examined by an expert, or acknowledged by Major League Baseball. It’s fair to assume cheating goes on behind the scenes in most well-run sports organizations, especially in a sport that relies so heavily on signs and tips like baseball.

However, should the cameraman be proven to be a Yankees employee who was hired by the team to knowingly break the barriers Rob Manfred has in place to ensure fair play, then the team will at the very least have to give testimony.
