Mike Foltynewicz’s wife Brittany is adamant her husband doesn’t use drugs.

It’s been a rough last few weeks for big league pitcher Mike Foltynewicz.

The 2018 MLB All-Star right-hander for the Atlanta Braves got shelled by the Miami Marlins in their final tune-up game before the start of the 60-game season. In his first start of the 60-game campaign, Foltynewicz struggled mightily vs. the Tampa Bay Rays, as he was designated for assignment minutes after the ball game ended at Tropicana Field on Monday night.

While some baseball fans may argue it was way too early for the Braves to give up on Foltynewicz to start out the year, this is a 60-game sprint of a season, as every inning is precious. It should be noted Foltynewicz’s trademark velocity is down. He’d routinely hit 95 MPH on the radar gun when he’s at his best as a starter. Now, he’s not even top 90 MPH. Something’s up.

So when a Braves fan suggested Foltynewicz was doing drugs and that’s why he’s lost a considerable amount of weight, his wife Brittany came to his defense on Instagram and shouted down anybody who would ever suggest such a thing. Though he might get traded by the Braves or sent down to AAA Gwinnett, Brittany Foltynewicz went to bat for her husband as she should.

Mike Foltynewicz was DFA’d by the Braves, but he’s not doing drugs.

Brittany Foltynewicz spelled it out. She mentioned the Braves did not open their team facilities during the pandemic, so pitchers like Mike Foltynewicz had to go throw at nearby Campbell High School in Smyrna, Georgia six days a week. She chalks up her husband’s slim figure due to poor lighting in St. Petersburg, as well as his struggle to keep weight on during the offseason.

She also mentioned that they also have kids, which means her husband has to be a full-time dad during the pandemic when he otherwise would be pitching all across the country for the popular NL East team. While Foltynewicz has had his struggles pitching for the Braves since Worst Inning Ever, it’s not fair to suggest he’s doing drugs and that’s the reason he’s not thriving right now.

It’s been a frustrating start to the season for the Braves and for the entire Foltynewicz family.
