The Phillies have received great news for second consecutive day.

Things may be looking up for the MLB. According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, no Philadelphia Phillies player has tested positive for COVID-19 for the second day in a row. Concerns grew for Phillies players after a weekend series against the Miami Marlins, who have since had half of the roster test positive for COVID.

The entire Yankees-Phillies series that was supposed to take place this week has been postponed. The Phillies will still be held out of games until at least Friday as the MLB attempts to gather a more clear picture on the situation, but it’s a great sign nonetheless.

This weekend’s series between the Blue Jays and the Phillies is still set to take place. If the tests continue to return negative, there’s no reason the Phillies shouldn’t return to action on Friday.

The Marlins are still the MLB’s main issue.

As we learn more about the situation, it’s possible that the outbreak was the spawn of a night out in Atlanta prior to Opening Day by a few Marlins teammates. Needless to say, if that’s the case it would be a complete embarrassment to the Marlins and the MLB as a whole.

The Marlins are still the MLB’s biggest issue. With 18 total cases now, the MLB has suspended their season until at least next Monday. The MLB will need to do everything it can to contain the situation with the Marlins so it doesn’t spread to the rest of the league. When they return, they must have absolute certainty that no one taking the field has the virus.

In times like these, everything is an experiment, and so far the MLB’s experiment isn’t going to plan. We’ll just have to wait and see if they’re able to manage the outbreak and continue the season.
