For a long spell, he was the leading rusher in the history of this long-time franchise. Pro Football Hall of Famer Jim Taylor was another big part of the team’s impressive run under head coach Vince Lombardi. Keep in mind that the fabled sideline leader never had a losing season and forged a 9-1 postseason record during his days with the club.

Taylor was a key cog of the first four of Lombardi’s championship teams. The hard-charging runner actually finished his NFL career with the New Orleans Saints in 1967. The 15th overall pick in the 1958 draft, a second-round choice from LSU, the 6’0”, 214-pound performer would run for 8,207 yards and 81 touchdowns in nine seasons with the Packers. He also caught 187 passes, 10 for scores, and finished his days in Green Bay with 9,712 yards from scrimmage and 91 TDs in only 119 regular-season outings.

The physical performer, who passed away in 2018, had this to say when it came to the game he excelled in (via the Pro Football Hall of Fame). “You got to enjoy punishment because you are going to deliver so much of it, and you are going to get so much of it…If you are prepared you don’t really feel the punishment during the game.”
