Georgia football bold prediction No. 2: Decision on offensive mindset will change the course of the season.

Considering that we don’t know totally what the 2020 SEC schedule will look like for Georgia or otherwise at this point other than it being a 10-game schedule, it’s hard to say what the turning point will be for the Bulldogs this year. Specifically, you can’t totally say that a specific game will be the spot where things are make-or-break for the Dawgs because we don’t know when they’ll be played — unless you want to talk about the Cocktail Party again.

Having said that, there will be a moment, albeit an undefined one, in the 2020 Georgia season where things change. And that will be whenever they figure out, under the watch of new offensive coordinator Todd Monken, what type of offensive team they’re going to need to be to have the most success.

Newman taking over at quarterback offers a ton of possibilities but uncertainty. He could potentially open up the UGA offense more than ever before while the run game is still strong. If he struggles, though, they could resort to relying on White and the rushing attack almost solely, limiting their offensive upside at the end of the day.

One of the certainties about Georgia this season is that they are going to be a stud defensive team. It’s not hyperbolic to say that Smart’s club might be one of the best defensive teams in the entire country. Whenever they make their decision about the offense, though, that will determine just how far these Dawgs can go.
