The Toronto Maple Leafs turn the tables and come back from 3 goals down 24 hours after blowing a three goal lead of their own.

What is even happening anymore? The Toronto Maple Leafs, the team notorious for blowing three goal leads and blew a three goal just yesterday, scored three goals in the last four minutes of regulation in Game 4 against the Columbus Blue Jackets to keep their season alive for the time being.

With the Blue Jackets up 2-1 in the series after coming back from 3-0 last night in overtime in Game 3, they took a 2-0 lead in the first two periods of Game 4 to try and put the series away. With less than six minutes to go, Boone Jenner put the Blue Jackets up 3-0, seemingly putting a dagger into the Maple Leafs season.

In a last ditch effort to save their season, the Maple Leafs pulled Frederick Andersen for the extra skater, and William Nylander was finally able to snap the shutout of Elvis Merzlikins to get the Maple Leafs on the board with four minutes to go.

It seemed like too little too late, until suddenly less than a minute later, when John Tavares sniped a shot top shelf on a beautiful feed from Auston Matthews to cut the lead to one with still three minutes to go.

The Maple Leafs were not out of the woods yet, and Columbus came centimeters away from sealing the game with an empty net goal, as the puck got stuck on the outside of the net.

With time winding down, the Maple Leafs kept up the pressure and hit Merzlikins shot after shot. Finally Zach Hyman was able to break through, and have the Maple Leafs be on the right side of comeback for a change.

While it’s nice for the Maple Leafs to not be the ones blowing a lead for once, they still need to score the next goal in overtime, or their season will be over regardless. If they do complete the comeback, Game 5 will take place on Sunday at a TBD time.
