NCAA Rumors: 5 transfer destinations for Trey Lance
By Mike Luciano
While the Cornhuskers of old rode a Tom Osborne option offense to a period of unparalleled dominance in the 90s, former Nebraska quarterback Scott Frost is determined to get the Huskers back in the national conversation on the back of a futuristic passing attack, even if he’s failed to do so in his two seasons as the head coach in Lincoln. As talented as Adrian Martinez is, he took a major step in the wrong direction last season, and Frost might need a new signal-caller to save his job.
Lance is a very raw prospect, and he might struggle in his first exposure to Big Ten defenses, but his arm talent, ability to create out of structure, and carry the load on designed quarterback runs could expand Nebraska’s offense in a way that Martinez simply could not. While seeing wideout JD Spielman leave is a big loss, and twin brothers Khalil and Carlos Davis both getting drafted will be a major blow to the Blackshirt defense, but Lance could have the same effect on Frost’s offense that McKenzie Milton did at UCF.
