Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence has no intentions of opting out due to the coronavirus.

With nearly 70 NFL players deciding to opt out, we’ve also seen plenty of college football players come out and state they won’t be suiting up in 2020 due to the concerns surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.

One player who won’t be opting out, however, is superstar quarterback and likely future No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick Trevor Lawrence.

The stud Clemson signal caller made it more than clear he’ll be playing this season, saying he doesn’t feel unsafe in the current climate and that he’s ready to ball out with his teammates starting Week 1.

Lawrence isn’t ready to punt on what could be his final college season

“It was always, ‘I’m going to play until something happens to the point where I don’t feel like it’s safe or I really feel like I need to just go on,’” Lawrence told Grace Gaynor of The Athletic earlier this week. “And that never happened.

“I’m really excited to have at least one more year here. And I wasn’t ready to give that up.”

After winning a National Championship during this freshman season, Lawrence cemented himself as a sure-fire first-round NFL Draft pick. He’ll be a junior this campaign and the wide expectation is that he’ll be leaving school early to chase his professional dreams.

Before he ends up donning an NFL uniform, he’ll have at least one more season with the Tigers. Entering this fall, Clemson is the favorite to win the national title and is ranked No. 1 in the country on numerous preseason polls.

For now, we just have to wait and see if there for sure will be a college football campaign, as numerous conferences have already canceled things for the fall. On Saturday morning, the MAC became the latest conference to announce their teams won’t be taking the field next month.

Everyone is keeping their fingers crossed that young men across the country will be able to suit up and hit the field starting in early September. Should that be the case, look for Lawrence to throw the dimes we’ve become so used to seeing.
