Draymond Green is picking LeBron James over Giannis in the MVP race.

The three finalists for the 2019-20 NBA MVP Award have officially been announced, as Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, Milwaukee Bucks freak Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Houston Rockets catalyst James Harden will compete for the association’s most prestigious individual honor. With very little distinguishing these three, maybe an endorsement from one of the game’s best defenders could help swing the momentum in James’ favor.

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green, who has been cameoing as a TV analyst after his team was not invited to the Orlando bubble, thinks that LeBron should be the MVP after making the Lakers relevant again after a very poor 2018-19 season marred by injuries.

Draymond has seen LeBron James resurrect the Lakers this season.

While the addition of Anthony Davis certainly helps take some of the pressure off of LeBron, the fact that he has led the Lakers to the No. 1 seed in the West while averaging 25.4 points and a league-best 10.3 assists per game at the age of 35 is so outrageous it almost defies comparison. The Lakers managed to secure the No. 1 spot in the Western Conference and are among the NBA title favorites despite the fact they traded away several key young players and are playing without star guard Avery Bradley in the bubble.

Harden is once again leading the NBA in scoring, but this will likely be a two-horse race between LeBron and Giannis. With both players putting up absurd numbers on the No. 1 seed in their respective conferences, the winner of this award may come down to flips of a coin. Green, however, values the rehabilitation job LeBron has performed in LA.

If anyone knows the difficulty inherent in stopping a motivated LeBron, it’s Draymond. His campaigning for LeBron is by no means insignificant.
