Terry Francona has no problem showing his humorous side despite a painful gastrointestinal condition.

For Cleveland Indians skipper Terry Francona, the 2020 campaign hasn’t gone exactly the way he had planned. Of course he and the rest of MLB have had to deal with the coronavirus pandemic and the shortened season. But in Francona’s case, he’s had a separate battle as well.

The veteran manager has been dealing with a gastrointestinal condition, which has resulted in him having at least five procedures. Francona has been out for the past week but is returning to the dugout on Tuesday for when the Cleveland Indians take on the Chicago Cubs.

Leading up to the first pitch, Francona was asked about his condition and how he’s feeling. The man known as “Tito” provided an incredible answer.

Terry Francona will be back in the dugout on Tuesday after missing a week due to his condition

“I thought I’d be the last person that ever would be taken down by having a tight ass,” Francona quipped to reporters. “That would not be what I thought would be the way I’d be described.”

As you can see, this is absolute gold from Francona. Only he is able to go through such a painful experience and then go on to explain things to reporters like he’s giving a standup act during amateur night at the Apollo.

Entering Tuesday’s game against the Cubs, Cleveland is in an unfamiliar territory, standing in third place of the AL Central standings with a 10-7 record. If the players want Francona to start feeling better, they may want to do a better job at both the plate and on the bump.

Francona’s sense of humor is the gift that keeps on giving. Now, though, let’s hope the Indians can go on a hot streak and really give him more reasons to smile.
