The Dallas Cowboys have signed former Minnesota Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen to add to the team’s array of pass-rushers.
Everson Griffen, 32, has signed with the Dallas Cowboys over the Seattle Seahawks, according to Ian Rapoport, Tom Pellisero and Jane Slater of NFL Media.
Griffen has spent his entire career with the Vikings after they took him out of USC with a fourth-round selection in the 2010 NFL Draft but was released earlier this offseason. The Vikings had tried to re-sign Griffen while the Seahawks pursued him as well to fill the void left by Jadeveon Clowney. However, it’s the Cowboys who win out in the end and they now own one of the more intriguing group of pass-rushers in the NFL.
The #Cowboys are adding a big-time pass-rusher, signing former #Vikings DE Everson Griffen, sources tell me, @TomPelissero and @SlaterNFL. With Minnesota for a decade, Griffen now heads to Dallas. A surprise.

Everson Griffen gives the Cowboys one of the best defensive lines in the NFL
The Cowboys lost Robert Quinn to the Chicago Bears at the onset of free agency but signed former All-Pro Aldon Smith this offseason as he attempts to return to his former glory. They also have Randy Gregory hoping to be reinstated for this season as he looks to get his career back on track after several false starts off the field.
With incumbents, Demarcus Lawrence, Gerald McCoy and Tyrone Crawford, the Cowboys have one of the best defensive lines in the NFC East and arguably the entire NFL. if Gregory and Smith can reach their once vast potential, it may not be one of the best in the NFL, but the best in the NFL, and it could be a big positive in their quest to bring the Lombardi Trophy back to Dallas.
