Jalen Hurts is being slept on and the NFC East will regret it

The Eagles made a gutsy decision to draft Jalen Hurts in the second round this year. 

It was a surprising move, especially considering they spent the No. 2 overall pick on Carson Wentz four years ago.

Wentz has been great for Philadelphia too, but the biggest problem for him has been battling injuries frequently throughout his career.

The year in which the Eagles won the Super Bowl, Wentz wasn’t the starter in that game. He had gotten the Eagles to a great record during the regular season, but was injured near the end of the season and replaced by Nick Foles.

Despite Wentz staying healthy through all of the 2019 campaign, he was knocked out of the NFC Wild Card game and replaced by Josh McCown.

Due to Wentz’s injury history, Jalen Hurts is going to play a huge role for the Eagles.

Some may think Hurts is going to be used in a Taysom Hill-like role where he does a little bit of everything, but Hurts insists he’s a quarterback first and foremost. He’s is both a skilled passer and a runner, which he displayed at both Alabama and Oklahoma. His senior season with the Sooners really showed how elusive he could be, as he threw for 3,851 yards, 32 touchdowns, and eight interceptions while adding just shy of 1,300 yards and 20 touchdowns with his legs.

While the NFL is different than the Big 12, Hurts has the potential to make a big name for himself behind Wentz.

It’s a tough scenario to think about because if Hurts is playing, it means either Wentz is injured or not playing well. At the same time, though, it’ll be a lot of fun seeing Hurts do his thing if he gets a chance.
