Adam Thielen makes it clear what Vikings must do to take next step

Adam Thielen says the Minnesota Vikings must stop doing so much talking and just get things done in order to get to the next level. 

Adam Thielen is no question one of the best wide receivers in the game.

For years now, he’s been a sensational wideout for the Minnesota Vikings and has been the go-to receiving threat for the offense. Yet, as good as Thielen and the offense have been, they’ve never been serious threats in the postseason. While the team has had Super Bowl aspirations, they just haven’t been able to get things done with Kirk Cousins at quarterback.

It’s not just on the offense, though. This is a complete and total team effort. So, what must the Vikings do in order to try and win another NFC North title and make a push for the Lombardi Trophy? If you ask Thielen, the first thing they need to do is shut up.

Will the Minnesota Vikings be able to win the NFC North in 2020?

“What wins you games is going out there and executing and using your playmakers and making the plays when the ball’s in the air,” Thielen said during a radio show on Saturday. “And that’s what we’ve got to do. We’ve got to go out there and make those plays. You know, again, we did enough to make the playoffs and get to the second round, things like that. Which is great, and that’s a successful season. But at the end of the day that’s not our end goal.”

Last season, the Vikes went 10-6 during the regular season, earning one of the Wild Card spots for the playoffs. They stunned the New Orleans Saints in the Wild Card Round, but then were hammered by the 49ers 27-10 in the Divisional Round.

Cousins didn’t put up great numbers in that loss, throwing for 172 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Entering the new campaign, all eyes will be on Cousins and Thielen to step up and try and get this team back to the Super Bowl.

Should that end up happening, we’ll remember what Theilen said on Saturday about his team being quiet and just going out and getting things done. Only time will tell if Minnesota as a whole buys into that.
