The Chicago White Sox homer four times in a row vs. the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Chicago White Sox ended Roel Ramirez‘s day in the most savage way possible.

Ramirez came in relief of St. Louis Cardinals starter Dakota Hudson. With two outs in the bottom of the fifth, Ramirez walked Tim Anderson and then chaos ensued. Somehow, some way, Ramirez managed to give up four-straight home runs to White Sox before being pulled from the game. Yoan Moncada, Yasmani Grandal, Jose Abreu and Eloy Jimenez took him yard in succession.

Roel Ramirez must seriously regret walking Tim Anderson now, huh?

It’s a story as old as time. Leadoff walks are never your friend and neither are two-out walks, especially when you’re dealing with the top of the batting order. Even though it’s been a while since the White Sox have had a playoff-caliber team, this young core on the South Side of Chicago is really starting to put it together. That top-half of the White Sox order is absolutely filthy.

While a Sunday afternoon win over the Cardinals gets the White Sox to .500 at 11-11, it still has them a few games back of the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central standings. Keep in mind that eight teams will make the postseason out of each league this season. One team that would surely benefit from this expanded field this year would have to be the White Sox.

Chicago may not catch Minnesota in the AL Central standings, but getting that coveted second-place finish, which would clinch a postseason berth, is totally in play. If the White Sox can get more big innings at the plate like they did against the Cardinals on Sunday afternoon, they could be one of the eight teams playing in October out of the Junior Circuit this fall. They can build on this win.

By going yard on Ramirez four times consecutively, this ties an MLB record for most home runs in a row by any big league offense. This is the 10th time a team has gone back-to-back-to-back-to-back in MLB history. The White Sox pulled this off 12 years ago this week, as Jim Thome, Paul Konerko, Alexei Ramirez and Juan Uribe went yard off the Kansas City Royals on Aug. 14, 2008.

Roel Ramirez needs to go burn his entire uniform after giving up four home runs in a row.
