The Auburn football schedule is out for the 2020 season and Gus Malzahn’s team has a tough road to traverse in order to win the SEC West with quarterback Bo Nix under center.

Auburn football always has a tough schedule with the normal opponents from the SEC West and Georgia being a permanent crossover foe. However, due to the condensed schedule canceling non-conference games, it actually got a bit easier without having to play North Carolina in what would have been their season opener.

That said, it’s still a tough slate that features road games at Alabama and Georgia, but Gus Malzahn’s team does get LSU, Texas A&M and an intriguing Tennessee team coming to Jordan-Hare Stadium this fall.

The Auburn football schedule presents two daunting trips to rivals Georgia and Alabama but a favorable home schedule for Bo Nix and the Tigers

Home games: Kentucky, Arkansas, Texas A&M, LSU, Tennessee

Road games: South Carolina, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Georgia, Alabama

Going undefeated at home will be the first goal when looking at the Auburn football schedule. If the Tigers can run the table against those five opponents, they’ll be in good shape when looking at the road slate of games.

Auburn should sweep the Mississippi schools and should have little issue with defeating South Carolina.

Of course, the biggest test and ultimately how the season is judged will come down to the games with Georgia and the Iron Bowl vs. Alabama. Playing both on the road is a tough ask to expect them to sweep considering those two may be among the top three teams in the nation. Depending on the development of sophomore quarterback Bo Nix and how well the defense can reload after losing Derrick Brown and Marlon Davidson, it may not be so impossible after all.

That said if Auburn can split those two games, and they take care of business in the other games, that may be enough to contend for the SEC West title and a berth in the SEC Championship Game on Dec. 19.
