Nick Saban is apparently a big fan of ‘deez nuts’ jokes (Video)

Who knew that Nick Saban has any semblance of a comical side about him?
Nick Saban is known to crack a ‘deez nuts’ joke from time to time with Alabama football players.
Okay, what? Yes, apparently there is a bit of a jokester side to Saban after all. It had been reported on The Dan Patrick Show by two of his former players in running back Joshua Jacobs and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa that Saban will throw out a light-hearted ‘deez nuts’ joke from time to time to break up the tension. Here Saban is on The Dan Patrick Show Wednesday confirming it.
“Well, I like to have fun with the players. I think that it’s good that they see you every now and then in a little bit of a different light,” said Saban to Patrick.
“Since I am a defensive coach, and I probably get on the defensive players a little bit more ferociously, it’s a little bit easier for me to be more lighthearted with the offensive players.”
“You know, there are always guys on your team that you love, like Josh Jacobs and Tua and Henry Ruggs, we’ve had a lot of really good players on offense that had great personalities and great work ethics, and you just love them. Those are the guys that I usually pick out to do the teasing stuff.”
Every head coach has their thing and Nick Saban’s is ‘deez nuts’ jokes
If former top offensive players of his like Jacobs and Tagovailoa can confirm this, does this mean his former top assistant coaches can confirm this as well? How many ‘deez nuts’ jokes have noted Saban disciples like Lane Kiffin, Jeremy Pruitt and Kirby Smart over the years? Will they hear a ‘deez nuts’ joke when Saban beats their teams on the gridiron once again this fall? It’s happening.
Could you imagine if Saban’s comedic side was a tad more of the gag variety? He would reach over into the left-hand drawer of his office desk and pull out a pair of false teeth or a whoopee cushion. Once he pulls out the rubber chicken and places it on his desk, that’s when you know he means business. When he coached the Miami Dolphins, they should have been on HBO’s Hard Knocks.
Defensive players may not see the funny side of Saban very often, but offensive players sure do.
