The Chicago Cubs announced on Saturday that star third baseman Kris Bryant has officially been placed on the 10-day injured list.

For the Chicago Cubs, the issues they’ve had with the bullpen isn’t the only problem they’ve got to worry about now. Unfortunately for them, an injury to Kris Bryant has been added to the list and manager David Ross can only hope things won’t linger throughout the rest of the campaign.

On Saturday, the Cubs announced they’ve placed Bryant on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to Aug. 19, with a finger injury. The hope now is that Bryant will be able to take another week off and then get back in the lineup with his powerful swing.

Earlier on Saturday David Ross made it seem like Kris Bryant would power through and wouldn’t be missing any kind of time

The update of Bryant heading to the Injured List is a bit of a surprising one, especially after Ross came out and said earlier in the day that his stud infielder wasn’t set to go on it. Unfortunately for Bryant, he underwent some tests with team trainers and things didn’t go as expected.

On the season, the 6-foot-5, 230-pounder has struggled at the plate, recording only 11 hits in 62 at-bats. This is certainly out of character for him, as Bryant hit .282 last season with 31 homers and 77 RBI.

For now, Ross and the Cubs will hope Bryant can take the next week off to get himself back to 100 percent, and that the time away will help him get back into his usual groove.

With Chicago once again looking to bring home the NL Central title and push for the World Series, having Bryant return to his superstar form will be huge for the postseason.
